Stone Bench Makeover
Yesterday I decided that I needed to get the area around my beautiful stone bench looking a bit more beautiful! My Daughter had the day off of Kindergarten so she was my assistant. A few years ago we had gone to the Wonder Rock Mine in Vernon, Ut and had collected some really great rocks to display in our yard. We haven't had them displayed where I really thought they would look good in the yard, just some random places. I have just been unsure where I wanted them. We did have a lot of the little rocks in front of my bench but hadn't really prepared the area with a ground cover so it has been a very weedy spot. It was a lot of work to dig through the soil and then screen out the rocks that had mixed in with the dirt.
But we got it done. That took most of my day. My new spring fitness workout is Gardening, it is definatly my favorite thing to do, and it is a full body workout! Next I got rid of all the weeds that had been growing around all the edging in front of my bench. I found some of my sprinkler heads that had been buried with top soil last year and placed them where they needed to be. Next I dug down a bit and leveled the ground to place my groundcover. I then put a layer of the soil I had sifted through smoothed it out and placed some bigger rocks to mark my edge. I got all my bigger red rocks and my stone bench from ksl.com (we get just about everything there). I then placed my bigger Wonder Rock and then the smaller stuff down the middle to walk on to get to the bench.
So there it is my stone bench makeover! I love showing my creativity through gardening and landscaping. Let me know what you think. Not sure what my next project will be but I am really excited to look around my yard and figure it out.
